Saints Sport - University of St. Andrews
Shrewsbury School
The oldest cross-country club in the world (founded in 1831) – famously known as ‘The Hunt’. Originally seen as a substitute for fox-hunting, The Hunt has evolved over time, but, many of the old traditions remain today. At the beginning of their races, its runners are spurred on by an age-old cry, which is bellowed by the red-coated Huntsman: “All hounds who wish to run – run hard, run well and may the devil take the hindmost”.

Great Britain Rower Jonny Walton
Back then, it was just a dream for Jonny Walton. In 2016, that dream became a reality. He fulfilled his lifelong ambition of representing Great Britain at the Olympic Games.
For Walton and double sculls partner, John Collins, Rio proved to be a mixture of agony and ecstasy. In tricky conditions, the pair endured a tough start to the Games, which culminated in a must-win repechage. They emerged victorious and went on to produce a stunning display in the semi-finals, earning them a place in the final, where they were to finish fifth overall.
There were mixed emotions for Walton – reaching the final was a fine effort in his debut Olympics, but, ultimately not the Olympic medal he so desperately craves.
Walton will not stop until he achieves that unending ambition.
Rio is done, he’s now got Tokyo on his mind.
